Why do you work out?
More so, what is the driving force leading you to spend an hour or more a day dedicated to your body?
There could be a multitude of reasons: to look good, to rehabilitate from an injury, or maybe because you think CrossFit makes you lose weight. Regardless of your reason, one thing is true. Your training will improve, helping not only yourself, but others as well.
I've been going to the gym for so long now, that sometimes I don't even know why I'm working out. Occasionally during a workout, I need to remind myself why I'm there suffering. The answer is simple - to enjoy my free time outside of the gym. For me, this includes playing other sports, having the ability to hike up a long trail in the mountains, or leisurely walking up and down European streets. Whatever it is in life that you enjoy, being in shape will allow you to experience it to the fullest extent possible.
After seven years of crossfitting (with just a few injuries) I can say why CrossFit is one of the best sports, or support training for other sports as well.
There are always people to help you at the gym. Whether it be the coaching staff or the members - everyone I know there shares energy, knowledge, and happiness to improve your life. I am so grateful to enjoy and benefit from this community. If you have the opportunity to go to a CrossFit gym, good for you, as you already know what I'm talking about. If you don't, you can find a CrossFit gym near you and try a free class, as many Crossfit gyms offer a free trial period for potential new members. Another option can be to find a coach online to help you with your training goals, whatever you want to get bulky, ripped, lose weight or simply just to get in shape. One downside to online classes is that you will not be able to participate in the community aspect, however, you will still be able to learn how to become a better you.
Some people are under the impression that Crossfit is not for beginners. Instead, many think that Crossfit is only for athletes on steroids, or that Crossfit makes you bulky, and is only used to build muscle.
Well, I can tell you that is wrong. When you see people working out like crazy at the gym, most of them very well may be crazy, but crazy to become better athletes or have better physical condition. Perhaps the appearance of someone with a body like a bodybuilder could intimidate you. However, it's likely the case that these guys/girls would be more than happy to teach you how to do the exercises, as Crossfit communities are built on inclusiveness and helping one another succeed.
So if you are new to CrossFit or you already belong to a CrossFit but do not interact very much at the gym, I recommend you start engaging yourself within the close-knit group of members there. I personally have only had good experiences every time I interact with fellow athletes at my box. Many of the members have now become close fiends, as I see them more often than I see my family.
The CrossFit community, integration, and sharing is something that the sport of CrossFit offers you in every gym. Being part of this community will not only help you grow as an athlete, but also have friends with common interests to share your life with.
